Usually, this time of the year, things start to slow down due to the festive period, but I'm sure my team will agree we have continued to be busy with inquiries that we are very grateful for.

Being flooded with more and more engineering and construction PI, which we are still providing solutions for as the market continues to harden and really 'Dry up' as many underwriters now have reduced or little income levels for the remainder of the year.

This week, our young gun Josh has really stepped up to the plate; he received a renewal proposal for one of our clients a little late in the day, the firm is a commercial insurance brokerage, and due to our relationship with our insurers, we were able to replace the current PI policy which had been non renewed with just under a 10% increase, with terms including COVID cover - Excellent result!

Mac could provide some very competitive terms for an industrial painting firm under our new liability facility that works on Bridges, Quarries, and Airports; the terms provided cover for PL, EL, and Own and Hired in a plant.

Josh also has been working on a campaigning miscellaneous PI risk; the business represents a well known political party and is non-renewed at renewal; Servca provided terms and secured the risk.

Patrick has also been kept busy and managed not to pull his hair out this week, which is a win in itself!!!! He has received terms on many challenging accounts and bound a Mechanical and Electrical engineering firm working on High rise offices and apartments; their work entailed them having some exposure to Fire Safety, terms were provided for a full 10mil line within 48 hours.

Mac has been working on a few unusual and challenging opportunities, one of which was PI terms for a large Civil Engineering firm that specialise in Wind Farm Projects and the rail sector, the holding broker left the insured in the dark at renewal, and we were able to provide terms for a primary GBP 1mil line to allow the insured to continue trading in this specialist sector.

Dr. Ed, the Medical and All round Guru, arranged some advantageous terms for one of our brokers; he identified terms for a Care Home risk carried quite astringent and heavy COVID 19 Exclusion, in effect providing no cover whatsoever for any COVID related matters. Ed was able to manage the firm and arrange terms for our broker, including a sub-limit of cover for COVID 19 claims.

Pat has also been working on a fit-out contractors PI, who predominately work on Foreign Office/Diplomatic premises; due to the nature of these contracts and the high profile nature these premises carry, the current insurers did not feel comfortable, but again Pat was able to come up with a solution for a 5mil Line.

All-round, it has been another great week at Servca; please do contact us for assistance on any challenging accounts you may have
